Organocatalytic enantioselective hydrophosphonylation of aldehydes.
We report our results concerning the first squaramide-catalysed hydrophosphonylation of aldehydes. In all cases, the reactions proceeded smoothly and cleanly under mild reaction conditions rendering final α-hydroxy phosphonates in very good yields and high enantioselectivities. It is one of the few organocatalytic examples of this reaction using aldehydes. It is the first time that diphenylphos...
متن کاملAn intramolecular organocatalytic cyclopropanation reaction.
Catalytic processes that form functionalized cyclic molecules represent a key transformation for synthetic organic chemistry. Recently, a number of organocatalytic processes have emerged that often provide excellent levels of both enantioand diastereocontrol for the synthesis of cyclic molecules. Our recent studies have identified the utility of ammonium ylides for carbon–carbon bond formation....
متن کامل2-Oxo promoted hydrophosphonylation & aerobic intramolecular nucleophilic displacement reaction.
Highly efficient catalyst free methods for the synthesis of α-hydroxy-β-oxophosphonates and α-oxoesters have been described. The existence of a 2-oxo group in α-oxoaldehydes is a key factor in promoting the reaction of the tervalent phosphite form towards 2-oxoaldehydes in the synthesis of α-hydroxy-β-oxophosphonates. The in situ activated α-C-H atom of α-hydroxy-β-oxophosphonates sustains aero...
متن کاملThe first organocatalytic carbonyl-ene reaction: isomerisation-free C-C bond formations catalysed by H-bonding thio-ureas
Intramolecular carbonyl ene reactions of highly activated enophiles can be catalysed by H-bonding thio-ureas to give tertiary alcohols in high yields without extensive isomerisation side products. An asymmetric variant of this reaction was realised using a chiral thiourea but was limited by low enantioselectivity (up to 33% e.e.) and low turnover frequencies.
متن کاملOrthogonal dipolar interactions between amide carbonyl groups.
Orthogonal dipolar interactions between amide C=O bond dipoles are commonly found in crystal structures of small molecules, proteins, and protein-ligand complexes. We herein present the experimental quantification of such interactions by employing a model system based on a molecular torsion balance. Application of a thermodynamic double-mutant cycle allows for the determination of the increment...
